About Chiropractic

What is the "crack" or "pop" that is heard with a chiropractic adjustment?

The "crack" that is heard with a chiropractic adjustment is called a tribonucleation. This means that the joint surfaces are moving apart fast enough to create gas bubbles within the joint. This gas is creating extra space within the joint so that the joint can move properly.

What is the aim of a chiropractic adjustment?

The aim of a chiropractic adjustment is to get a person's joints moving properly. Often a person will have joints that are "stuck" or not moving properly and a chiropractic adjustment corrects this. Joint movement can be attained in a variety of ways, including a manual adjustment or an adjustment using an activator.

Do I need a chiropractic adjustment?

Most people need a chiropractic adjustment even if they are not currently experiencing pain. Everyone has decreased mobility in some of the joints in their body. In order to correct this, a chiropractic adjustment needs to be performed. If a chiropractic adjustment is not performed when it is needed, this causes the body to compensate for the lack of mobility. This can lead to tight muscles and abnormal wear and tear on the body.
